Pandemic One Year Later: A Reflection on the Current and Impending Mental Health Crises
The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered increased levels of psychological distress worldwide. The youth, adolescents, and young college students feel that their future is spiralling out of control; the adult population faces the consequences of the pandemic’s effects on their diet and exercise habits; and the elderly population—at the highest risk of contracting a life-threatening form of the virus—have had their mental health severely affected. As we slowly move towards a post-pandemic way of life, now is not the time to turn a blind eye to these issues. Instead, we need to remain aware, listen to others, and advocate for the importance of mental health more than ever!
